To document the damage caused by a leak, it’s best to take photographs of the affected areas and make a list of the damaged items. You should also try to determine the source of the leak and document any efforts you made to mitigate the damage, such as turning off the water supply or moving affected items to a dry location. If you choose to appoint a Loss Assessor, they will do all of this on your behalf.
